SILENT GROOVE

These photographs were taken using a pinhole camera I built out of a record player.  I then converted the photos into sound using a programme called Metasynth. I’ve made the 4 track EP available on Bandcamp.  It’s a fairly experimental project from a good few years ago and was part of a bigger project called Music For Photographs.  I was shooting with large format 5x7" film stuck to the turntable platter. I then went on to use an enormous De Vere enlarger to make photographs that were about 30” in diameter.  In addition to the Metasynth sounds I sampled the sounds of the De Vere enlarger.  The images were editioned as a suite at Peacock Visual Arts and the project was also part of a touring exhibition in Scotland.
